I now have ornament size frames!

They are so cute. I have already used them for gift tags and place holders. You can paint the backing with chalkboard paint for either.

The blue one pictured is actually sized for a business card. If you are are a photographer and you have a newly booked client that might be a great way to share your card.

I have been working really hard at putting together a large frame collage. I have quite a few new shapes made and almost ready. My goal is to have 3 different options available for quick order collages. I am really close to offering it...really close. I just need paint to dry, a few more tweaks on the final frames, and pictures! There will be a 3 frame option(like the one pictured) a 5 frame option, and a 7 frame option. All you have to do is pick shapes and colors!! Stay tuned:-)

I created a new prototype! This is shown in the 16" by 20" frame opening size. This is my favorite yet! I love it so much. It really is a show stopper. It becomes art in itself.

on a side note I wanted to let you know that I borrowed this red one on Thursday to show as a sample and Jenny promptly contacted me on Friday to ask me to return it because she missed it so much! This made me smile. They really are that impressive.

Yes! that means another naming contest! Names are still coming in for frame #2! There is a bit of a them for this one. Both of these prototypes were birthday gifts for my friend. She had ordered them from me and I surprised her with them (pictures and all, as it turns out I am also her family photographer!) for her birthday. Therefore, this name needs to have something to do with friendship.

If you are the first to submit a name you will win the 8 by 10 frame in this shape! Unless you prefer a different shape, or credit towards a bigger frame.

This is the second shape in my ever growing collection. I need your help in finding a name for it. From now until the end of October you may leave a comment with a name suggestion. Frame Q&As

1. What colors do they come in?
I hand craft everything I do. I have almost any color imaginable. I also sell them with just primer on them if you want to paint your own. If you want them unfinished I will deduct $5.00 from the price. Then you can get an exact color match!
2. How do you ship?
I have had very good luck with USPS over the years. They are usually fairly decent priced and very quick with the priority shipping.
3. What is your turn around time?
Right now I have lots on hand and I am able to get things shipped out fairly quick. My frame turn around is about a week.
4. How do I order?
I am not a big box store. I do not want to make any money off the shipping. I know many companies charge you for handling to box up product. I am just not like that. Currently if you would like to place an order you may send and email to monica@readmywalls.com that includes the frame you are interested in, the color, and your mailing address. Let me know if you have any questions. Once your order is finalized and we have the shipping quote then I will paypal you an invoice.
5. What If I want a different size or shape?
I am currently working on new shapes and sizes all the time. If you really want a 20" by 24" just send me an email and I will get you a quote.
6. How do they hang?
Every frame is professionally key holed to hang both vertical or horizontal. The key hole has a screw head plunge. This means that if you hang it right it will never fall off and break, or hurt someone.

I have two new shapes to add to my whimsical collection! I am also going to feature the new 16 by 20 size. I will be posting it on Tuesday. In the mean time I want to let you all know that I need help naming these beautiful frames. I am going to have a little naming contest. Every time I add a new shape to the collection you will be given a chance to name it! If I pick your name you win that frame in the 8 by 10 size! You could also choose to take a credit off a larger frame.

Introducing Bellany, the first in the Whimsical collection

Starting today I am offering a new product. I have long been a fan of this style of frame. After much work, and trial and error I am finally ready to offer them to you.

This is the first one I am offering. I am calling it the Bellany. Right now it is offered in an 8 by 10 size. Each frame is hand crafted and takes about 2 hours to make. The introductory price is honestly a steal at just $30.00!

I will be adding more shapes and sizes to the collection in the very near future. If you are interested in a different shape or size don't be afraid to ask.

Dear customers,

Let me start by telling you thank you. The last year for me was incredibly stressful. It was probably the most stress I have ever had. My husband's company sold the Minnesota division and they were not sure where to put us. They had him traveling all over to help in areas. This left me at home 85% of the time as a single mother. This all happened the same time I knocked my front teeth out(some of you remember that laugh). That being said my business took a major backseat the past year. It was very hard for me to get orders done. Customer service is one thing I prided myself in but I had to put my family first as they needed me to hold us all together. That is now over! We have decided to stay in Rochester! My husband has decided to try something new! In the mean time he has become my partner and my signs and vinyl are back in focus. I am restructuring a bit to make sure I don't go as crazy this time. I will have a few more pictures of signs and color options up soon and I am working on restructuring ordering. I also would like to look at booking a few parties in the next few months if anyone is interested let me know.

My clocks

I wanted to post a picture of the clocks I make. I am always amazed when I finish one how incredible they are. They take me about 10 hours of actual work and many more waiting hours to make. I require at least 6 weeks advance notice for them. However, they are stunning and incredible gifts. This is one I just finished for someone.

These pictures honestly don't give this justice.

Maybe this shot can show some more of the detail they have.

I love my clocks. They are a painstaking labor of love. I love them.

How much are these amazing clocks...can you believe right now they are only $60.00? That means I make less than $6.00 an hour when you take away my expenses! Every time I make one I think about increasing my price a little. I am a stickler for charging what I would pay for something. In my opinion these are worth every penny.

I have an amazing customer who has tons of patience. She ordered frames for her kiddos before Christmas. She insisted that she was in no hurry. I tried something...if failed. I tried something else...it failed. January came to an end and I thought, she is going to give up on me. Then "poof" like magic it came to me. The perfect idea. The exact way I wanted to do this. Now here they are. I love them, she loves them! I hope you love them. They are 16 inches tall and 12 inches high. The frame in the boys one is 4" by 4". The frame in the girls one is 3" by 3".

Check out the detail. I love this one so much. It just looks like something your grandma had and gave to you.

On another note. I am sorry I have been so horrible about posting. All my work hours have been dedicated to orders. Christmas turned into a busy January. I have many things to post and I will try and keep posting all week.

I just want to share with you that I now have a new collection for stick figures. This collection is amazing and very customizable. I can add many unique features for all of you. These are great for more than just Mini Vans:-) you can create sports teams for signs...signatures for skateboards and such. There are many many uses for these cute little people and pets.

Just a quick note!

The Christmas rush has started. Any orders placed before Thanksgiving will be given a 10% discount for any order of 2 signs or more.

DECEMBER 10th will be my cut off date for Christmas delivery. If you decide you want a sign after that please email or call me to check my work load. I try really hard not to say no if I can help it.

I would also like to thank all the customers who hung with me last month as I had a huge order of 50+ items and then the Flu hit our house. Things are finally back on track.

I have had a lot of requests for wall quotes that work with multiple photos. This is one I did recently for a really fun customer. She had a basic idea of what she wanted and in the end we teaked it a little bit to fit her! I love when doing that:-) This still gives her lots of space to hand more photos too. A great bonus if you ask me!

I have had a lot of requests for different colors of vinyls. I wanted to post my current color list for all of you to see. Don't forget you can enlarge it by clicking on it.

Currently silver is only available for anything 3" or smaller

Keep in mind that I can paint the background of signs any color you wish. This color list is just for the actual vinyl. If you are layering a project keep in mind that you will want a dark tone with a light tone. Two dark tones or two light tones will not work.

I wonder how many of you are wondering if I dropped off the planet. I am sorry I have not updated my blog in so long. I had a very busy summer with weddings and now it just has not seemed to stop. I have had a lot of very fun projects the last few weeks and I will be posting more of them. I had to share this one with you. This customer wrote a poem to her husband a few years ago and decided to put it on canvas for the bedroom. She wanted to make sure they would have it for years to come. It was really fun working with her and she just ordered another project that you are all going to love too!

I hope you all missed me as much as I missed posting! I will try to get a few things up in the next few days.

Sally's creative ideas come to life

These are a little out of order. I know you will all love these ideas though. My friend Sally just moved away. She was the kind of person you were always glad to see. I am really really going to miss bumping into her. You are real and that is hard to find these days. I hope you get to grow old in Brainerd:-) If you live in that area and you run into Sally please tell her hello from me.
She had me make three of these frames. One for each one of her kids. Now she can display art like it is a Monet!

For the boat

She put together these tea boxes for a group of her friends. They have all been friends since high school and they use the Oak leaf to remind them of the strength they all have together. Being a nomad for most of my life I really love seeing friends like this.

I know I have not posted anything in a long time. I am so sorry. I have a few great pictures from customers too! I have just spent the last month knee deep in constuction. During another home impovement project we noticed that the outside faucet was leaking in the wall in my office. I have had everything from my office in a pile in the family room while we "remodeled" my office. Despite the mess I have actually been thrilled about this. It has made it possible to make some much needed changes to my space. I am about a week away from being back to normal. Then I will post pictures of my new improved workspace!

The cutest graduation party ever!

One of my dearest customers Susan Volden now has a graduated senior. I can not remember a time when I talked to Susan that she did not bring up Lexie. She is a very proud mom. She called me a few weeks ago to see if there was anything I could think of for the party. My mind went crazy! I think this was the funnest project. I also tried practicing with my new camera at the party so Lexie would have a few more shots but I messed up most of them. Here is a look at what we did for the party.

Okay, so there is no vinyl in these first shots but they are important to give you a feel for the overall party. It was a dessert party and everything was so good. Susan found a place in a very small town in Minnesota that made the best cupcakes. There was also Coconut Cake from the Honkers cafe that was out of this world good. I think I dreamed of it that night.

Here is the quote we put on the mirror for Lexie from her mom. I really loved this:-) I hope Lexie did too.

The outside had to be the best touch for the vinyl stuff. I had this vision of daisy stepping stones all the way to the front door. They ended up looking so cute.

I just have to add that Susan is an amazing designer! Her house seriously made my heart sing. I am an artist at war with my own house. I love a house that is off the page and unique. My husband likes things "safe" Our house is in the middle. The closest I have come is my mosaic enty way. If anyone needs a good designer let me know and I will get you her information.

My latest big project

I volunteered to put together a craft project for the mops group I belonged to before Matthew was in 1st grade(now I am considered "graduated") In typical Monica style I managed to make it much more detailed than simple. I had to put together enough supplies for around 85 crafts. Oh, did I mention I had a budget of $1.88 each? Well I managed to get them to bump up the budget a little bit being that this will be the last craft of the year. I also managed to rope in my friend Jenny to help with the weeding(removing extra vinyl). Thank you, Thank you Jenny! Without you this craft would not anything like this. I am guessing that between the 2 of us we have a good 30 hours into these. I think they turned out super cute. Here our pictures of our samples.
They will each get a frame(that I suggest they change out when they get home..this one is after all from the $1.o0 store) a sheet of vinyl that has the letters and a few details on it, like the way cute chandy!, a very pretty sheet of paper, and 5 sparklies!!! They can arrange and decorate it any way they want. This is a few of the ones we put together.

There are a million different ways that they can put this together. These are just a few ideas to get them thinking. Despite all the hours preping I will say that putting the samples together was a lot of fun. I hope the moms enjoy them.

I must say that I really love making these signs. The little girl ones always turn out so cute.

This is my favorite pearly pink. The font over the top is too cute with the little stars. The little sparkly flowers are the perfect finishing touch.

This one has a lavender background. The i's are dotted with sparkly hearts!

It is also nice to be able to take them outside to photograph. You are getting a much truer color in my pictures.

I finally have developed my new 16" by 16" frame with a 5" by 7" photo frame in the corner ready for production(so to speak) This is one of the first ones that I made for a wonderful friend who needed a thank you gift for and Aunt that loves Hawaii. Pretty darn cute right. I even cut a tiny hibiscus flower for the corner of the mat. Just wait I will have more pictures of these posted this week as I finish up some for Sally and a baby gift of my own.

As you can see this is quite large. The customer who applied this had only done one other small thing before this. She had no trouble putting it up herself following my directions. She had designed this herself on Microsoft word and sent it to me for duplication. I think it turned out great and I know it was just what she had in mind. How much did something this big cost, you ask? It was $22.00:-)

I always love to hear what a husband thought of my vinyl creations. It seems like I hear a lot of "he never likes anything, and he loved this" or "he never even comments and he gushed about this sign"
I received an email with these pictures in it from a customer. She said that she was worried about what her husband would think but as soon as she put up the first one he was hooked. Now they are both looking for more places to put some vinyl. It is addictive!

I know that I always tell people that the response is my favorite part of what I do, but you it is so true. One of my friends ordered two signs like this for teacher's gifts. She received an email a few days ago from the teacher telling her how much she loved it. She even sent pictures of it hanging on the wall! However, that is not even the best part. Her little boy Kaden was so excited about giving the signs and how much the teacher loved them that he wrote me a note! As she was cleaning she found an envelope with my name on it. Upon opening it she found a completely unprompted note from Kaden to me thanking me for making the great signs for his teachers. How great is that!!! It made my day.

Finally something for me!

I always joke that I feel like the cobbler who's kids have no shoes, or the mechanic thats own car is broken. I always end up giving out or selling everything I make or I just don't have time. However, I finally got a few minutes(or made myself find them) to make this for our problem bathroom. You know the room we all have that we know could be cute if you could just figure out what to do in there. It is not done yet, but a lot closer. This bathroom started out white...white and more white. The people who lived here before us had no kidding..white paint, white tile, a white shower curtain and even white towels. It was really exciting in here. Well it is not quite perfect yet but at least you do not have to wear sunglasses to go in anymore.

I had a request for a monogram for a nursery. I designed this custom vinyl design. I am so proud of how it turned out. So is the mom! She said she sneaks in to see it when she can. The dad loved it too. This monogram runs about $20.00 depending on the detail and size. That also makes me proud. I have been seeing a lot more vinyl companies around but I have yet to see one as affordable as I am. I guess that is because I love doing this and making money is not really my focus. I just love being able to design! I also love hearing what people think of my work.

Christmas was a swirl as you all know so I am finally finding a few minutes to post a few signs from the past few months that I really loved. There were many more that I just did not have time to photograph so feel free to send me pictures if you have one.

This is a monogram to hang above a teenager's bed with a pretty brown silk ribbon! Too cute.

How about this jersey! It is about 24" by 24" for a little boy who was born on the 14th. This is his headboard. I have pictures of it up on the wall that I will have to post.

The hardest thing about photographing my work is the colors. They never show true. The blue on this is not as bright as it is showing. What a great idea for a birthday present though. I think the little girl around 1o years old.

A friend of mine asked me about doing a sign for her mom and her mother in law over a year ago and this is what I had come up with. She sent me these pictures of her mom's hanging up. I just loved it. I forgot about the pictures until I just had a customer ask what I could do for grandparent signs. I wanted to share these pictures. On a side note: there have been 2 more grandkids added to the sign. I just cut the names and she placed them below the other names.

Sign, Sign...everywhere a sign

Yes my life is crazy. My list never gets any shorter and my house is last on it. However, I am way more organized and focused this year than last(remember last year I had two trips to Montana, one unplanned but important) I am still taking orders and will be up until December 20th if I can stay on top of things. I just wanted to share why I am not going out in public at the moment...hehe!
That is loaf of bread in the middle....my poor son was lucky enough to get a PB&J for dinner:-) He thinks I am pretty neat right now though, being a celebrity and all. I knew there was a reason I had a dining room table. It holds a lot more signs than the counter!

These pictures are from a customer in Iowa. Her daughter is surrounded by positive scripture about girls. The pink really pops against the brown too. The sign is from me too! Can you spot it. (It was also under $60.00 for all of it!)

A tribute to Clair

I just wanted to share this article that is going to be in Saturday's paper. Amy did a wonderful job. Clair passed a way after Thanksgiving last year and it honors me to have him mentioned. I am sorry I have not posted more of my work but I have been trying to get caught up before this comes out. I have done a few really cute signs that I will get posted soon.

Sorry that I have not updated in a while. I was invited to attend an artist venue over the weekend and I had spent all my extra time the past few weeks getting ready. I will try and post a few things in the next few days to make up for it.

On election day I watched my friends little girls while she ran out to vote. While I was there I took a few pictures of some of my work. This top picture is of her daughter Hannah's room. She also has a large letter to Hannah on the wall in front of the beds. When she wakes up each morning it reminds her how much she is loved.

Her house numbers. The stars have little knobs attached so she can hang things on holidays and such!

Monogram

I was sent a picture of this monogram that I did about a year ago today. It is hard to see in this picture but it has the wedding verse above and below it. It added a real personal touch to it. I love monograms.

My favorite color for signs

I wanted to show this top sign because it is one of my favorite color schemes. Photographs never do it justice. It is called Morel and it is a really pretty Brownish Grey. I always suggest this when giving gifts because it goes with anything. It is good to keep in mind when you are not sure about when you will redecorate.

I had another customer from Georgia order signs. The top one she had ordered with a different font for the background. I tried it and I could just not get it balanced. I tried this font and I LOVED it. I thought it was so wonderful. She loved it too.

A 25th Anniversary Gift

I had an order a few months ago from a mom from Mops. Her and her husband were going to celebrate 25 years together and she wanted to give him a sign. Here is a picture of it on the wall hanging above a family sign. It is hard to tell in the photo but the names are actually done in silver. It was really fun to do and I love being able to be a part of the celebration.

I have a friend who always orders cute stuff. She and her husband both love "The Great Pumpkin" and so I was inspired to do this sign. We ended up changing the words to "Oh Great Pumpkin where are you" but I only took a picture of it with the first words on it. I thought you all might like to see it. I hope to have a few more postings in the next few days.

A little fun for my husband

This weekend is my husbands annual hunting camp. The camp has been going on for over 30 years! My husband seriously gets like a little kid over the thought of going. I started making all of the guys that go fun stickers a few years ago and it has become part of the tradition. Here are my three that I am sending this year.

PR-18 is the name of the camp, just in case you were wondering..:-)
Just an FYI a Benelli is a shotgun. This makes me laugh because any good hunting dog gets really excited when they see a shotgun! Just a little clean humor.
All of these are on top of the box that I am sending full of cookies too.

I LOVE this sign! It took a little while to figure out the composition, the order asked for it a little different than this but is just did not look right. I simply love it though. It is on a bigger board. It is 16" high and 3.5 feet long.

Giving back

If anyone has been to the Christ Community Church you have hopefully seen the amazing coffee shop. I am a big fan of the coffee there. I also think that the girl behind the counter is as nice as they come. I have donated all the vinyl in there for all the business that has been sent my way through them. It might not be my parish but it is pretty welcoming. These pictures will show you that my work is not limited to just your homes!!! If you are in there please say hi to Diane. She is actually in this top photo.
How nice does this menu look? Almost all me. They had to put it up themselves and they did a pretty good job. Not bad for never applying vinyl before.

Missy has been one of my favorite clients(I guess they all are) Right after she moved in we put this in her little cubby that she did not know what to do with. It is still one of my favorite things about her house.
This image always reminds me of a catalog picture. I think it looks perfect. Just to let you know I went over to her house around 8 am to take this and her be was already made! Impressive.

Miss Selah's room

I had this random idea a few weeks ago for a wall in a little girls room. I asked my friend Missy if I could use her daughter Selah's room for my model. She said "of course" she is one of the nicest people that I know. I bought these shadow boxes and painted them and then we applied her name to them, one letter at a time. I then found the perfect background design that we applied piece by piece. After we finished with that we hung the shadow boxes over them. Missy had filled them each with a cute picture of Selah. It turned out even cuter than I expected! Thank you Missy. Looking at it up close.

Lots of variety

This is one of my most popular signs. This one is wrapped already so it is a not the best picture. I will replace it in the days to come. I just wanted to add it on because it is one that everyone likes.

The colors of this were a lot better in person and I have done a lot more like this in the past few months that have great color combinations. However, I wanted to show this because the saying is actually a Bible verse.

This one is done with a taupe background and Burgundy and white vinyl overlay.
I loved the way this turned out. It was for a client of mine that always orders fun stuff. The little boy had an airplane theme in his room so I created this over the top. It was really fun.

This was for another client of mine that orders a lot of fun things. She is also very creative. This was her vision and I just made it come to life.

This was a custom sign that I just fell in love with. I keep meaning to make one fro me but it is just like the saying about the cobbler's children have no shoes. I hardly get time to make anything for me.

Up close view of the fabric

I always tell people that you can apply vinyl to almost any surface and here is the proof. I made this giant cork board for my kitchen dinning room. I bought a big frame on clearance and I make a board to fit the frame. I covered it with cork squares and then I upholstered in in fabric. I applied the vinyl to it for the finishing touch. Now we add pictures from our favorite places and family gathering dealing with food. I love it! The fabric is actually a fuzzy type too, if you were wondering.

One giant sign

This sign was rather fun to make. It was 12" high and 6 feet long. I made it for a client's grandmother. He was really close to here and this was a joke they had for many years. I really liked the way it turned out. I shipped it all the way to Georgia for about $15.00! I hope she loved it. I bet she about fell over when she saw how big it was.

Try not to laugh at the picture of a finger in my frame. It was all I had at the time. These frames are very large measuring 24" by 24" and holding a 8" by 8" picture.

I had someone order a sign for a couple that really loves horses. This sign was was really fun. I had never used some of the techniques I used to make this. I think it turned out really unique and super fun.
